DIANE BRIDGES - OVERALL LEAGUE WORLD CUP WINNER
2 points for having Argentina to ultimately win were enough for Diane Bridges to hold on to top spot and take our World Cup trophy for the Overall League - all matches since the competition started, whether predicted or random. Anyone who has read my updates at least occasionally will know that Ms Bridges has benefitted massively from outrageous fortune with random predictions. Auldyins 11 have picked up a ridiculous 28 bonus points, with the likes of Cameroon 1 Brazil 0 earning Diane 13 points while most of us were scoring -2. But hey, you play the game how you think it should be played and Diane's strategy - herself predicting 25 of the 68 matches and trusting the random scores generator to the rest - came up trumps. Could have gone horribly wrong - it didn't. Bask in your glory Diane, you won the World Cup! |
LES MARJORAM - KNOCKOUT STAGE WORLD CUP WINNER
The top two picked up zero points each in the Final, so it was to be that Les Marjoram's three correct scores from the previous four matches ultimately won Les the Knockout Stage World Cup. Les predicted as many correct scores in the Knockout Stage (6) as he did in the Group Stage, despite there being three times as many matches in the Group Stage. In fact, Marjie's Marvels scored 41 points in 48 Group Stage games, then matched it with 41 points from just 16 Knockout Stage fixtures. Well done Les! |
RYAN KEENAN - ACTUAL PREDICTIONS WORLD CUP WINNER
With Diane Bridges scoring just 23 points from Auldyins11's 25 actual predictions, that team finished 119th of 127 that entered at least 10 predictions. Ryan Keenan is our Actual Predictions League World Cup winner with 88 points from 62, he missed two. Ryan finished 3rd in the Overall League behind Diane and Benjamin Williamson. Ben also missed just two predictions, but was a lot more lucky with his two randoms than Ryan. |
SEAN BARRETT - ACTUAL PREDICTIONS (by average points) WORLD CUP WINNER
Sean Barrett was our Group Stage World Cup winner for Actual Predictions, scoring 69 points across the 48 matches. Having predicted all of those, Sean disappeared off into the sunset and did not make any more predictions. However that Group Stage performance is enough to make Sean our World Cup Winner for Actual Predictions by average points. It looked like Ryan Keenan was going to pip Sean and take this trophy too, but a disappointing last two matches saw Toney Told Me slip to 3rd in both the Average Points League and Overall League. Matthew Metzger came 2nd in this one, predicting one more match than Sean and scoring one more point - Matthew averaged 1.43 to Sean's 1.44. |
